When I was studying at university, my working adult friends always reminded me to enjoy my uni life as much as I can for I am going to miss it once I start working.
But for me, I was looking forward to graduate and earn my own money. Because I so yearn for that independence. To earn my own money and not needing to ask permission when I want to buy something.
Earning money back then means you need to have a job. That was why months before my final exams, I started researching what job do I want to apply for. I was so eager to be part of the workforce. Should I be a customer service? Should I be an engineer? Should I be a teacher?
Then came one night, I had a dream. I dreamt I started working in this company as a sales engineer. I still remember in my dream, my basic salary was RM3K, but my commission was RM40K.
Whoa. I want money. It’s an omen.
I woke up and I started to research about being a sales engineer. I thought to myself, it all make sense. At that point of time, I have been active in public speaking for more than 10 years already. Plus my technical knowledge that I have learnt from Uni, I thought that is pretty neat combo to be a sales engineer.
And that was it how I began my career back in year 2003. As a sales engineer.
